On the morning of 13 December, the China Frontier Economic Research Institute of Guangxi University was officially inaugurated at the opening ceremony of the 2020 China Border Economy Open Development Forum, which is the first frontier economic research institute in China.

The institute is based on the theoretical research of economics and the applied research of border opening and development, promotes the theoretical research and system creation of border economics, carries out the cultivation of border economics theoretical research talents and border opening and development applied talents, and serves the national strategy of border opening and development as well as the local economic and social development of Guangxi. The institute intends to become the origin and core research institution of the theory of frontier economics, a platform for coordinating and promoting cooperation, exchange and innovation of all parties, an important carrier for Guangxi University to serve the national strategy and economic and social development of Guangxi, and an important think-tank of frontier economy research through the construction of 3 to 5 years.

After the establishment of the institute, it will focus on building a first-class high-end think tank and cultivating a first-class research team; set up a research team around six directions, namely, regional economy, industrial economy, finance and risk, trade and logistics, enterprise management, culture and tourism industry, and construct frontier economics to support the construction of first-class disciplines of applied economics; focus on the development strategy of opening up along the border of the country and Guangxi, carry out the academic exchanges of opening up along the border, and hold the "Guangxi Forum on Open Development Along the Border" on a regular basis. The high-end characteristic professional forum "Guangxi border opening development forum", and carry out regular academic lectures and seminars on border economics, forming a forward-looking research focus advice; around the service of local enterprises, to provide personnel training, management consulting. We will endeavour to form a collaborative innovation platform.
